How to Create APA Citations for Webpages

ONE AUTHOR

Include the author’s last name and initials, along with the publication year in parentheses. Italicize the webpage’s title, followed by the website’s title and the URL.

Structure
Author’s Last Name, Initial(s). (Year). Title of the webpage. Title of the Website. URL

When you have a single author, include their last name and the publication year in parentheses within your in-text citations.

In-text For example, according to recent research (Hayward, 2023), climate change is having a significant impact on wildlife conservation.
Structure (Author’s Last Name, Year)

TWO AUTHORS

In the reference list, list both authors’ last names and initial(s), separated by an ampersand. The year of publication follows, and the title of the webpage is italicized. Include the title of the website and the URL.

Structure
Author 1’s Last Name, Initial(s), & Author 2’s Last Name, Initial(s). (Year). Title of the webpage. Title of the Website. URL

When a webpage is co-authored by two individuals, use an ampersand (&) between their last names in the in-text citation.

In-text For example, recent studies on renewable energy show promising results (Lee & Riz, 2023).
Structure (Author 1’s Last Name & Author 2’s Last Name, Year)

If the webpage’s content is subject to change, such as articles or blog posts, consider including the date you accessed the page in your reference entry. This practice is not mandatory but can be useful to document when you accessed the information. Example: (Author, Year. Title of the Webpage. Title of the Website. URL. (Accessed Date)

When quoting directly from a webpage, always include page numbers in your in-text citation, if available. This aids your readers in locating the exact passage. Example: (Author, Year, p. Page Number)

Don’t forget to cite all the sources you use in your research, whether they are webpages, books, or other types of materials. Proper citation is crucial to avoid plagiarism and provide credit to the original authors.

THREE OR MORE AUTHORS

Include the first author’s last name and initial(s), followed by the second author’s last name and initial(s), and so on, until the last author, upto 2o authors. The year of publication is included, and the title of the webpage is italicized. Mention the title of website and provide the URL.
